Paris is the third highest climber with 108% growth, followed by Dublin with 96%, Munich with 88%, London with 85%, Milan with 67%, Frankfurt with 66% and Amsterdam with 64%.Overall Spain and Germany are the joint leaders, both with two destinations in the top ten. As to be expected, all destinations are major gateway cities to Europe from the US.Typically, long haul travel is less affected by currency fluctuation than short haul, because long haul destinations tend to be part of more extensive trips that are planned longer in advance, whereas one short haul destination can often be substituted for another if becomes too expensive.Barry Smith, Skyscanner director and co-founder commented on the differences between US and UK tourists in Europe:“Americans tourists are not so sensitive to euro currency fluctuations. Whereas a typical British tourist who just wants a week on the beach will happily exchange Spain or Greece for Turkey or Bulgaria if it’s cheaper, Americans who have been planning their European adventure for the last 12 months are not going to be put off by a change in the euro.”Highest Climbers1.
