Convicted fraudster back in court for similar offence

first_imgAfter being slapped with eleven counts of fraud and convicted for one back in 2018, 29-year-old Ganraj Raghubeer of Kitty, Georgetown, was last week hurled before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where he was slapped with another fraud charge.Raghubeer appeared before Principle Magistrate Leron Daly and denied the allegation which detailed that between May and July 2018 at Water Street, Georgetown, while being employed by Kumar Chintaman as a clerk or servant, he stole $1.6 million; property of the Virtual Complainant.Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh, told the court that the defendant was previously charged with eleven counts of fraud and was convicted for one while the others are pending in another court.The prosecutor further objected to bail being granted on the grounds that Raghubeer is often absent when the cases are called and poses a flight risk.Magistrate Daly upheld the prosecution’s submissions and remanded Raghubeer to prison. The case will continue on April 12, 2019.last_img read more
